Sr. Business Analyst - Detroit

This position will help to learn from the business or customer what its needs are and how to translate them into technical requirements for information management or for application development.

- Conducts planning sessions and set up project management around the collection of business requirements
- Conducts feasibility analyses of ideas, pre requirement gathering if necessary
- Elicits requirements from the business or customer
- Identifies, investigates, defines and refines the requirements with the business
- Works with the business or customer to determine the value of their requirement request
- Facilitates working group sessions with the business to identify and drive requirements and identifies Business Process Improvements by creating Business Process workflow diagrams to support improved quality of requirements
- Analyzes requirements if necessary for scope, budget or resources
- Documents requirements and ensure with the technical staff and business staffs that the documentation clearly communicates the business needs
- Oversee any change request process, and facilitate weekly meetings, ensuring issues are addressed and resolved; coordinate with project leadership to identify and gain commitment in the concept and rollout timeframe of project.
- Works collaboratively with the customer and with the technical areas such that future requirement gathering is simplified and effective and strong, ongoing relationships are established.
- Leads the management and monitoring of multiple projects simultaneously by establishing project plans and objectives to ensure goal attainment with defined parameters.
- Mentors and motivates teammates
- Participates in customer team meetings and technology development, design and prototype discussions.
- Reviews deliverables during the design and implementation process
- Engages the testing team with the business team in requirement gathering to ensure proper and effective testing, defect reporting and resolution to meet the customers needs
- Effectively resolves issues and brings true problems to management attention earlier and with potential solutions.
- Interfaces with programmers and developers to define and implement business intelligence tools and solutions for healthcare analytics and metrics reporting.
- Communicates project progress, results and recommendations through meetings, phone calls, presentations and written reports.
- Regular communications with the business are expected.
- Maintains analytical and PC skills.
- Keeps current with relevant health care issues project management and industry initiatives and technology advances.
- Pays attention to advances in performance measurement

Education:
- College Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Health Care Administration, Computer Science, Systems Development or other related field is required.

Experience:
- Six (6) or more years experience as a business analyst in health care or insurance, with a basic understanding of the products and processes of a health care payer
- Has gathered and structured requirements and other information to accurately reflect the business processes and data
- Has participated in design solutions that are easy to use and can demonstrate that the priorities of the business were met
- Knowledge of project management and testing methodologies
- Demonstrated organizational, prioritization and time management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team and train and mentor support personnel
- Displays excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with a variety of senior-level executives, both internal and external.
- Self-confident yet respectful of others and willing to utilize the resources available in order to provide a quality service to the client.
- Capable of diplomatically taking control and driving a team toward a common goal during requirements meetings.
- Proven success in complex problem analysis and resolution in an environment requiring superior negotiating and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong business analysis skills, including facilitation skills and a thorough understanding of analysis deliverables
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team.
- Strong technology acumen and track record of hands-on implementations across multiple technologies.

- Experience with Microsoft Access, Visio, Project and Excel or similar tools in order to perform database searches to respond to research questions and perform statistical analyses.

Department Requirements:
- Six (6) or more years business analysis experience in requirements gathering, reporting and presentation of key performance metrics (including financial, utilization and clinical) and/or data warehouse subject areas.
